			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Ellen Eanes Courson, MD, MBA recently graduated from Auburn University with her Physicians Executive Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree.</p>
<p>Courses completed included completion of an in-depth comparison of delivery of health care services in the United States and the United Kingdom, a Washington DC trip meeting personally with Congressman Sanford Bishop to discuss local health care needs, challenges in Medical Ethics, Legal Aspects of Healthcare Business Transactions, Cost Accounting, Organizational Leadership and Change, Health Care Statistics, Operations and Information Technology, and Macroeconomics.</p>
<p>Dr. Courson serves as Chief of Staff of Smith-Northview Hospital and practices High-risk obstetrics with Danielle McFarland, MD at Valdosta Women’s Health Center, PC.</p>
<p>Courson serves as Adjunct Professor of Obstetrics with the Medical College of Georgia of Augusta, Georgia, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine of Suwanee, Georgia.</p>
<p>The Medical College of Georgia Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology awarded Dr. Courson the 2007 APGO Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a<br />
member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Courson has been named by the Consumers Research Council of America as one of the Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists in America since 2002.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Ellen Eanes Courson, MD, Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstectrics and Gynecology for the Medical College of Georgia was awarded the 2007 APGO for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in Obstetrics and Gynecology. The APGO award was awarded by unanimous vote from the the OB-GYN professors at the Medical College of Georgia. The award was presented during the annual OB-GYN resident end of the year banquet held recently at the Augusta Country Club.</p>
<p>Courson&#8217;s award follows being named the MCG Clinical Staff Awards Volunteer Teacher of the Year for 2006. She was also elected into the AOA Honor Society for teaching third year medical students rotating through six weeks of clinical teaching at Valdosta Women&#8217;s Health Center and Smith-Northview Hospital. Courson was nominated and elected by ballot from all third-year medical students at The Medical College of Georgia. The clinical experience is designed to help the medical students pass their national board examination, experience real world physician work environment, and to help attract physicians to rural and or under served areas in Georgia. Courson is the only MCG associate professor of OB-GYN in Valdosta.</p>
<p>Courson is the president of Valdosta Women&#8217;s Health Center, PC and serves as Chief of Surgery at Smith-Northview Hospital. She is a native of Valdosta, an honor graduate of Valdosta High School, Valdosta State University, and the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta where she completed her internship and residency.</p>
