Experience

Since 1992, the physicians and staff have performed over 7,800 deliveries. Each of these deliveries is unique and special to the mothers and fathers involved. These deliveries include normal and uncomplicated deliveries as well as high-risk deliveries.

Ellen Courson, MD, MBA serves as the only Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology associated with The Medical College of Georgia in Valdosta and Lowndes County.

MCG is the flagship University of Georgia medical school with campuses in Augusta and Albany, Georgia.  Third year medical students rotate every six weeks in Valdosta in Obstetrics and MCG reports that the rotation with Valdosta Women’s Health Center is the most coveted appointment during the student’s OB rotation.  The introduction of third year medical students enhance VWHC by constantly bringing the latest knowledge to Valdosta.

Smith-Northview Hospital is home to a Level II Neonatal Nursery. The Labor and Delivery suite underwent major renovation in 2010 and added 5 family friendly Labor and Delivery rooms. The new rooms ensure your comfort and provide state of the art technology.  This ensures that the areas only 5 Star Rated Hospital will continue to provide obstetric services second to none.
